âYouâll be pleased to hear Maâam; weâve got some intel on the guy who tried to chase us down. Stewart Wainright, local pain in the ass with a criminal record longer than my arm. Heâs part of this new group who are all about fuck the rich and fuck authority,â Marco sighed as he slumped down on the other office chair.
âOkay, so the police know who these guys are?â
âThey do, but they arenât doing much about it,â he responds, crossing his arms and huffing. âI think weâre going to have to sort this ourselves.â
âTypical,â I sigh, rolling my eyes at him before doing a quick google search on our Mr Wainright. âJeez, heâs all over the internet.â
âYeah, Iâve got Tim on the case for finding out a base location. We could do with keeping an eye on their activities and avoiding their areas. Itâs better to take precautions.â
âYouâre right. We need to set off soon and collect Isabella on the way to the Drake Meet. I cannot be bothered today, Marco.â I sink into the chair, trying to shake off thoughts of her. Thoughts of Isabella. I knew cutting it off was the right thing to do. Iâm not ready to open myself up, let alone to someone who Iâm already paying to work for me. It just wouldnât be right, but it annoys me just how god damn beautiful she is. How her face draws me in. How much Iâd like to go back to my dressing room and kiss her again.
Anyway, enough daydreaming.
âNo problem boss. Letâs get on the road.â Marco stands out of the chair, grabbing his phone which is vibrating its way across the office desk. âHello, Marco speaking⦠yeah⦠uh huhâ¦. Okay, thanks, Tim.â
âInformation of Wainright?â I question in anticipation.
âYep. He lives down Isle Street, which isnât far from Isabellaâs. Christ boss, we ought to be cautious around there.â
âFuck. How typical is that? I canât have her spending any more time in that area. They might try and use her to get to me.â
âOkay, maybe give her a call, just to warn her, and to let her know weâre on our way.â
âNo need, I donât want to worry her,â I respond, straightening out my shirt and readjusting my blonde flicked-up hair in the mirror.
âOkay boss, whatever you say.â
As we make our way to the car, my focus is set on making sure that Isabella is protected just as much as we are. I canât bring her into my life and put her in a dangerous situation. âMaybe we should sort out protection for her, just as a precautionary measure?â
âThat might be a good idea,â Marco replies, slurping his coffee from his travel mug.
âWho knew that our life would end up feeling like weâre some kind of detectives?â I laugh.
âHa, not me, but I kind of like it. I always wanted to be a cop, eating doughnuts and drinking coffee. Stalking bad guys in car parks.â
âYou are funny Marco. When I was little, I dreamed of being an astronaut.
